Listening to Danica is like getting a hug from someone who’s taken you in like an older sister does, and that older sister happens to know really cool things about the folklore and history you’re seeking out (or didn’t even know you needed). But, she doesn’t lord her academic or practical prowess over anyone. Instead, she shares it lovingly, human to human. This podcast is a gem. Danica is a gem.

I absolutely love this podcast. It has helped me to reconnect with my roots, and helped me to find a more free and joyful place in the world.

I have enjoyed all of your shows through the years… it got me through crafting my first quilt in the dark winter of 2020/21 and helped me become more in tune with the rhythms of nature and my ancient roots. I understand why episodes are infrequent - because they are masterpieces!! But today, I happened to need something to listen to while cleaning (it’s also my birthday) and I was so delighted to find a special Autumn episode in my apple podcast library 🙏🥰 the answer to my prayers for something mystical to imbibe on this beautiful Fall day! Fair Folk has been such a gift. I’m so glad it’s back! The music selections and information feel like I’m back in my favorite history classes with a teacher who actually cares. Danica put oodles of time - mostly for free - into a beautifully produced, well-researched show. While I can understand how pushing her products (noted in some of the recent 1-star reviews) can grate on listeners, it speaks to how absolutely spoiled we have all been to have a show of this caliber exist without advertisements. Personally I have learned so much and been introduced to so many deep cuts of folk music! Worth a listen even if it is currently on hold.

Used to be good and enjoyable if a little music heavy. Now she’s trying to shill her incredibly overpriced courses and consultations ($555 for 90 minutes????). Egocentric and narcissistic and people fall for it. I know of plenty of other “pagan educators” who have been in the game A LOT longer and charge affordable prices because they are of service to others and to magic. All she cares about is making a buck.

So happy to have found this podcast. Well produced. Interesting. Thoughtful. Beautiful music and people. Respectful and community building. Well done. A grateful pagan.

Used to be a good podcast that felt enchanting and took me into another world... her use of “empire” as her way of acknowledging George Floyd’s murder is insulting and she continues to skirt around issues of racism and white supremacy within folklore. Also now that she’s selling classes at $1000 a pop and constantly talking about the money she’s making it feels super narcissistic

It was fun until she started shilling a $900 “course” on paganism, and wouldn’t shut up about money in the same breath.

I just started listening to this podcast, but was drawn to Danica’s heart and passion for this subject that I subscribed immediately. I am on a journey of trying find my ancestral folk practices(Polish and Lithuanian and Italian), and the Lithuanian episodes absolutely took my breath away. The songs are so powerful and the story of Romuva is so exciting to know about.

I used to love this podcast now it is gutter sleazy.

Inspiring, exuberant, alive. Fair Folk is a must listen for witches and wanders alike. Thoughtfully researched, masterfully produced, each episode is overflowing with knowledge, music, and muse.

I love the information presented in the show, but there’s just too much emphasis on music, wish there was more speaking parts.

This is the best podcast. It doesn’t feel like the stories and old ways that have continued to be practiced are capitalized or altered in a “Disney” way. It’s a raw check on how these ways have persisted and continue even though our fast-paced lives and centuries of religious influence try to suppress them.

The music, the interviews are so rich with deeply embodied beauty my throats tightens and my cheek pinches like I'm eating the finest chocolate I have ever tasted and just a bite is so rich I can hardly process it. I savor the podcasts in little bits sometimes because I'm so overwhelmed with it all. Wherever her attention turns beneath her listening ear an unfolding occurs and the result of this flowering stirs something deep in my blood, a remembrance, a feeling from a dream. ✨✨✨✨✨✨

Pardon the pun. Fair Folk is a lovely podcast. I listen to numerous folklore podcasts but this is the only one I’ve come across that puts folk music at the forefront. Each episode is a trip through time and across cultures, highlighted with fascinating information that sparks your imagination. Anyone interested in history, world cultures, or folklore will find it well worth a listen.

I'm so glad I found this podcast! I've been listening almost non-stop the past couple of days, while tending my fire, knitting and making winter gifts. It's been the perfect accompaniment! So much of the music from the lands my ancestors came from, and even those I don't have (known) blood connection to, have been pulling on my heart on these cold and dark winter days around the Solstice. The first few seconds of the kulning episode made me burst into tears. Song is such an important part of my life and hearing so many old songs has been deeply inspiring to me. I am moved to learn more and keep some of these traditions alive. I'm looking forward to more and to support when I can. Thank you!

This podcast is incredible! It’s open me up to a world of music, sounds, and lore that I didn’t know existed! If you love mythology, ancient Europe, folklore, faeries, or music! I highly recommend this podcast to you! My only complaint is that their aren’t more episodes, because each one is a gem in its own right!

This show weaves together songs and lore about fantastic subjects, i.e., Giants, Witchs. I have yet to listen to the Finnish lore show but can't wait. This seems to be a Canadian radio show and is extremely well done: the songs reflect a wide range of knowledge on both music and music about the fantastic (it was surprising in a good way to hear "Mammy Red" on the Witches show), which is not as easy as it might seem. The stories and lore intertwined reflect the host's knowledge as well. Fun, informative, and well-crafted. I hope this goes on for many more shows.
