MirandaRmfLovely, informativeListening to Danica is like getting a hug from someone who’s taken you in like an older sister does, and that older sister happens to know really cool things about the folklore and history you’re seeking out (or didn’t even know you needed). But, she doesn’t lord her academic or practical prowess over anyone. Instead, she shares it lovingly, human to human. This podcast is a gem. Danica is a gem.

Mystic_WombleWonderfulI absolutely love this podcast. It has helped me to reconnect with my roots, and helped me to find a more free and joyful place in the world.

FionaTristineFriend through the seasons & birthday giftI have enjoyed all of your shows through the years… it got me through crafting my first quilt in the dark winter of 2020/21 and helped me become more in tune with the rhythms of nature and my ancient roots. I understand why episodes are infrequent - because they are masterpieces!! But today, I happened to need something to listen to while cleaning (it’s also my birthday) and I was so delighted to find a special Autumn episode in my apple podcast library 🙏🥰 the answer to my prayers for something mystical to imbibe on this beautiful Fall day! Thank you so much for your love of music, language, and ritual, and for sharing your research and perspective so thoughtfully with the world ❤️ I dream of singing with you someday, I’ll check out your courses!
-
Chelsea B. C.Thank you for sharing your knowledge!Well researched, insightful, and thoroughly enjoyable! Thank you, Danica, for this amazing gift!

1927carLove listening and thank youThank you for putting such care into each episode. I love learning what you share with us. So wonderful to hear music from all around the world and opening the door to some ancestral roots I have never gotten to explore or think about until now. I also admire your voice, & the style of your communication, and your singing voice! Blessed Be! ✨

LaLaFlFabulous Well Done Folk PodcastI love this podcast so much. Danica is such a great researcher, storyteller, and teacher. If you’re into European folklore you’ll love this podcast! Packed full of great and fascinating information and stories.

Hannah4184956Thank YouFair Folk has been such a gift. I’m so glad it’s back! The music selections and information feel like I’m back in my favorite history classes with a teacher who actually cares. I always lean on “Gnome for Christmas” to get me into a better heart space anytime of the year. But right now especially. Thank you, Danica. This contribution to the podcast world is so so special.
-
KVinGUReturn! The season of Fair Folk has returned! This made my autumn. Thank you, Danica 🖤

kabess77Also glad it’s back!It was a great surprise to see a new episode! I couldn’t bring myself to unfollow, in hope I’d hear her voice again. I love the history and the music. This podcast grounds me to my roots and the seasons. I relisten to podcasts based on the time of year, but look forward to learning new things. Thank you for coming back!!

constancersWowee! If you can’t hang, keep it movin’Incredibly thoughtful and smart! This podcast is a full meal and I find myself being fascinated every episode. Thank you for creating this, Danica! Beautiful work!
-
kopajticAbout those one starsDanica put oodles of time - mostly for free - into a beautifully produced, well-researched show. While I can understand how pushing her products (noted in some of the recent 1-star reviews) can grate on listeners, it speaks to how absolutely spoiled we have all been to have a show of this caliber exist without advertisements. Personally I have learned so much and been introduced to so many deep cuts of folk music! Worth a listen even if it is currently on hold.
-
BearSoul76Used to be goodUsed to be good and enjoyable if a little music heavy. Now she’s trying to shill her incredibly overpriced courses and consultations ($555 for 90 minutes????). Egocentric and narcissistic and people fall for it. I know of plenty of other “pagan educators” who have been in the game A LOT longer and charge affordable prices because they are of service to others and to magic. All she cares about is making a buck.
-
WolfHeartEagleA happy findSo happy to have found this podcast. Well produced. Interesting. Thoughtful. Beautiful music and people. Respectful and community building. Well done. A grateful pagan.
-
elmertownUsed to be good, now money obsessedUsed to be a good podcast that felt enchanting and took me into another world... her use of “empire” as her way of acknowledging George Floyd’s murder is insulting and she continues to skirt around issues of racism and white supremacy within folklore. Also now that she’s selling classes at $1000 a pop and constantly talking about the money she’s making it feels super narcissistic
-
almost-summerBe warnedIt was fun until she started shilling a $900 “course” on paganism, and wouldn’t shut up about money in the same breath.
-
sockethairHeartfelt and importantI just started listening to this podcast, but was drawn to Danica’s heart and passion for this subject that I subscribed immediately. I am on a journey of trying find my ancestral folk practices(Polish and Lithuanian and Italian), and the Lithuanian episodes absolutely took my breath away. The songs are so powerful and the story of Romuva is so exciting to know about.
-
97304netaThis podcast has gone downhillI used to love this podcast now it is gutter sleazy.
-
drewdingesPraise for Fair FolkInspiring, exuberant, alive. Fair Folk is a must listen for witches and wanders alike. Thoughtfully researched, masterfully produced, each episode is overflowing with knowledge, music, and muse.
-
CajunTechWonderful information but too much musicI love the information presented in the show, but there’s just too much emphasis on music, wish there was more speaking parts.
-
annwen elvensdottirExcellentLove the mix, the scholarship, the curiosity.
-
rivermaisonAmazing!!This podcast is so great and informative. I really love getting to learn about the traditions, rituals, and old ways of the different European cultures.
-
rowaninoWorth every secondI can’t fully describe how grateful I am to have discovered Danica and her absolutely magical podcast. Each episode is a beautiful journey into the past that brings life to old traditions, yet it also strengthens your sense of home and belonging in the present. You can tell Danica puts so much heart and soul, time and energy into each episode. Absolutely worth listening to every episode and definitely worth subscribing to her Patreon (the monthly Almanacs are particularity good)! Thank you Danica!

~ Must Love Dogs ~Best PodcastThis is the best podcast. It doesn’t feel like the stories and old ways that have continued to be practiced are capitalized or altered in a “Disney” way. It’s a raw check on how these ways have persisted and continue even though our fast-paced lives and centuries of religious influence try to suppress them.
-
goldenheart🍯A breath of fresh air!Thank you so much for this grounded, heartening, and educational offering! Re-membering is offered here. I recommend taking it. I feel more whole and the world feels more holy. Thank you again. This is just beautiful.
-
The Bog HobbitBeautiful beyond words but I'll try..Danica is a dowsing rod for the last bits of magic left among humans. The music, the interviews are so rich with deeply embodied beauty my throats tightens and my cheek pinches like I'm eating the finest chocolate I have ever tasted and just a bite is so rich I can hardly process it. I savor the podcasts in little bits sometimes because I'm so overwhelmed with it all. Wherever her attention turns beneath her listening ear an unfolding occurs and the result of this flowering stirs something deep in my blood, a remembrance, a feeling from a dream. ✨✨✨✨✨✨
-
Catink23Wonderful Breath of Fresh AirThis podcast is a wonderful addition to our options in this world of podcasts bringing back the art of Storytelling forward into the future to enjoy in new ways. Traditions carried on in new technologies. Thankful for Danica and her work to bring this magic forward for those of us who love Folk tales, Lore, Stories.
-
scm_oneWonderful.Stumbled upon this podcast. Really wonderful stuff, and as an American it’s like getting to travel to places I’ll likely never see. If you’re interested in folklore/old music/old tales, and have felt the mysterious pull of ancient things on your insides, give this show a listen.
-
@jaquelingertinoMagicI just found this podcast and I’m completely smitten! Danica you do such an amazing job at talking about folk lore, I love your voice, and the music throughout the episodes is my favorite! I’ve been looking for something like this for so long. Thank you!!
-
T33kT33kWonderful podcast of folklore and music! If you enjoy folklore and traditional folk music, you will aboslutely enjoy this! It's informational while still very entertaining. From witches to giants, she covers a unique variety of topics with beautiful music and a bit of history.
-

heaetherAn amazing podcast for folklore loversI stumbled across this podcast around the winter solstice and it blew me away! If you’re interested in European fairy tales and folklore this is IT!
-
mirandazachPerfect composure!I learnt of this podcast from a mention in “Tarot for the wild soul”. I’m incredibly impressed by the production and educational value. Looking forward to becoming a patreon!
-
Draig-dw-iThe Fairest One of AllPardon the pun. Fair Folk is a lovely podcast. I listen to numerous folklore podcasts but this is the only one I’ve come across that puts folk music at the forefront. Each episode is a trip through time and across cultures, highlighted with fascinating information that sparks your imagination. Anyone interested in history, world cultures, or folklore will find it well worth a listen.
-
jahnaviveronicaWonderful, cozy, entrancingI'm so glad I found this podcast! I've been listening almost non-stop the past couple of days, while tending my fire, knitting and making winter gifts. It's been the perfect accompaniment! Thank you Danica for this beautiful collection of music and stories. So much of the music from the lands my ancestors came from, and even those I don't have (known) blood connection to, have been pulling on my heart on these cold and dark winter days around the Solstice. The first few seconds of the kulning episode made me burst into tears. Song is such an important part of my life and hearing so many old songs has been deeply inspiring to me. I am moved to learn more and keep some of these traditions alive. I'm looking forward to more and to support when I can. Thank you!
-
AstatulaBeautiful!!Danica's podcast is so beautiful. The music, the history... I could listen to them more than once. It's like food for the soul.
-
treehugger206I love this podcast!I have been binge listening to this excellent and erudite podcast. It would be a very differant world if musings such as this took up space in the pit of prime time cable/tv- such a world would be a delight. Thank you Danica for this excellant podcast!
-
nord7669Incredible podcasts! This podcast is incredible! It’s open me up to a world of music, sounds, and lore that I didn’t know existed! If you love mythology, ancient Europe, folklore, faeries, or music! I highly recommend this podcast to you! My only complaint is that their aren’t more episodes, because each one is a gem in its own right!
-
Green RisingVery well producedMany thanks!! Looking forward to next season :)
-
joemuseRadio FantasticThis show weaves together songs and lore about fantastic subjects, i.e., Giants, Witchs. I have yet to listen to the Finnish lore show but can't wait. This seems to be a Canadian radio show and is extremely well done: the songs reflect a wide range of knowledge on both music and music about the fantastic (it was surprising in a good way to hear "Mammy Red" on the Witches show), which is not as easy as it might seem. The stories and lore intertwined reflect the host's knowledge as well. Fun, informative, and well-crafted. I hope this goes on for many more shows.
