MillyLillyKateI truly enjoy this podcastI’ve experienced the ying and the yang of this podcast over the years. Overall I’ve enjoyed the time they put into it and the time I’ve spent listening. (I’m a binge listener)!

shirkmdNot a fan rewatchThese guys are not fans of Tim Allen or much of the show. Be prepared to listen to a rewatch that does A LOT of complaining with pretentious banter. I’ll give them credit for not giving up when they should have years ago, but I guess if you’ve got nothing better to do….

Tommy K NockerThe best show of its kind availableI thought I had rated and reviewed this podcast years ago, but it seems I didn’t, and I’m ashamed. I’ve been a terrible fan, I’m sorry guys. Anyways, I just wrapped up listening to the FINAL episode of Grunt Work, and I’m actually a little misty eyed. I discovered this podcast on a long drive across the US in late 2017/early 2018 (I think), and I’ve been tuning in ever since. Despite its considerable flaws, I’m a huge fan of Home Improvement—it takes me back to the 90s, and I loved it then and continue to though now I look at it through a different point of view. Truman and Landon are fair in their criticisms as well as praise; they are neither super-fans nor hate-watching the show, so we get a pretty balanced perspective on this show in the 2020s. Also, they are huge fans of the great Richard Karn, by far the best thing about this show, which I love because I am too. Most importantly, they are skilled show hosts and funny guys with a fantastic range. They are thoughtful and sometimes provide some genuine insights on things you may not expect from a podcast about the show Home Improvement. Landon is skilled at keeping the pace of the show entertaining and listenable and Truman’s humor is lightning-fast and sharp. They are a great duo—they’re both smart and funny, and they have genuinely excellent chemistry together. While I’m sad that Grunt Work is coming to an end, I am thrilled to hear that they are working on a new show and I will check that out for sure. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading my novella-length review. There is not a better podcast out there about Home Improvement, so if you’re just discovering this I have no doubt you will enjoy the sizable back catalog, from show episodes to fun (and maybe not-so-fun) show related movies and other things. FIVE STARS!

Matt CarrinoException-AL Podcast!I grew up watching Home Improvement and never thought that decades later, I would be enjoying this whole meta level of two people analyzing each episode in the most articulate but hilarious way! The episodes have been clocking in at about two hours, but it is well worth it to listen. Truman and Landen have great chemistry and yes, they scrutinize through the “woke” lens, ripping apart Tim’s boorishness and toxic masculinity in general. They have admitted on the show to identifying more with Al Borland than Tim Taylor. If you are or were a fan of the show but can also appreciate an insightful and humorous cross-examination, this podcast is a must! I am sad that they are approaching the series finale, but look forward to catching up on the old episodes that were released before I knew this existed.

AudiofileLALoving the EnergyI don’t typically write reviews, but I’m an old listener who was moved to write a review after loving the energy in the “Future Shock” episode. Truman and Landon sound like they’re having a great time and I realize that during a global pandemic, I really can’t get enough of feeling like I’m having a good time with friends while listening to podcasts. Thanks so much for making my hermetic life a lot more fun!

KwadeownerNot the right people for this. They cant seem to handle anything outside of PC. Pretty pathetic. These guys are basically feminists...which is perfectly fine...but why choose Home Improvement when you have such beta views? They cannot handle “manly” jokes and openly cheer when Jill makes digs. This is based on listening to about 7 episodes. They really dont like the main character...ya know...Tim Taylor.

Tara Lee 1203My Favorite Podcast Out There (from Tara Lee)I listen to more podcasts than I can realistically keep up with, but this one I ALWAYS make time for. As a kid of the 90's, Home Improvement had a very special place in my heart growing up. Now, as an adult, I get to hear hosts Landen and Truman take a look at every episode to see how well the show holds up today. I appreciate their thoughtful and honest observations. And whether or not they enjoyed watching an episode (or sometimes even a full season as a whole!) all these years later, they always manage to make this podcast fun to listen to. In particular, their 'in-between' segments always make me laugh out loud while I'm listening. 'Guess That Title' and 'Character-Actor-Corner' are my absolute favorites, and right now with the limited series segment 'JTT Junction', it's weirdly fascinating to hear two 30-something guys read a 90's teen heartthrob book. If you're a fan of Home Improvement at all, this podcast is well worth your time. Landen and Truman are both hilarious guys, and their chemistry is exceptional. This may sound cliché, but I seriously could listen to these two talk their way through a phone book.

Fan Theory WorldMust listen!Great podcast! Real comedy comes from a place of love, which these guys have in spades for the show. Under no circumstance would I say that these guys disparage the source material. Next to passion, I would say is quality. These guys put on a great show while also critically analyzing it. While I enjoy the nostalgia factor, I really tune in to listen to the hosts' banter with each other. Over the first few seasons, they perfectly encapsulate the spirit of the show. Really great job guys! Killing it!

Scott Kersey PrimeDoes everyone know what time it is?This is a very very good podcast about a very very ok show. Truman and Landen have a natural rapport and engaging style reminiscent of podcasts like The Flophouse. You get recaps, you get Andy Rooney impressions, you get various theories about the existential meaning of fallen man in relation to an ineffable and half hidden God. The only thing you won't get is bored.

TJ208Hilarious companion pod to Home ImprovementWas rewatching Home Improvement since they recently stream now on Hulu, and was wondering if there was a podcast companion. Boy is there ever! Landon and Truman have amazing chemistry and humor as they discuss each episode of the beloved 90's sitcom.. They both are hilarious and do a deep breakdown of each episode, that a lot of the times is funnier than the actual show. Love the Grunt counter! They have so much enthusiam and personality. If you your fan or want to rewatch the show you loved, listen to these guys now. Keep it going to end! You got my support.

Kirstie JI DO think so, Tim.Absolutely hilarious podcast that's well worth subscribing to whether you're binging Home Improvement now that it's on Hulu, haven't seen the show in decades, or even if you've never watched an episode in your life. The hosts are witty and overflowing with pop culture references to give listeners a new take on a classic show. Home Improvement? More like total life improvement when you start listening to Grunt Work.

Sabba RListen to this show, now!As someone who has listened to her fair share of recap podcasts, and enjoyed them to varying degrees, I was nervous and excited about starting Gruntwork. I am SO glad I did, because it is without a doubt my new favorite podcast. The hosts have amazing chemistry, they always make me laugh out loud, and now I really want to go watch more Home Improvement. Definitely listen to this podcast now! infinitefiniteThe Home Improvement Revival You've Been Waiting For!As most people have mentioned, I grew up on Home Improvement, and have yearned to watch it again. Unforuntaely, at the moment it's not streaming anywhere, so I was extremly happy to see a podcast exists that relives every moment of the show! What I love is that the hosts seem to have a genuine appreciation for the material, rather than simply criticising it. And, the way they break down each episode, it's not necessary to watch along - simply relive the memories! Since we'll never see the Home Improvement revival on television, this is the next best thing!

Grayson 3000Grunt of approvalI loved watching Home Improvement growing up and it is wonderful to revisit episodes with these guys. Funny, great audio, and finds deeper meaning in a sitcom that is considered a cheesy 90s show today.

Craftsmans4358Really dang funny!A show about Home Improvement? Who would've thought it could be as entertaining as it is. The hosts are just dang funny and knowledgeable about the show. I haven't seen Home Improvement in years, but listening to this show I feel like I am reliving each episode. Would recommend to anyone who likes tv podcasts.

cwforumsHilariously well craftedGrunt Work is a new, but delightful podcast about the 90s sitcom Home Improvement. As a fellow podcaster doing the show Wargaming Recon I know the importance of listener feedback. The podcast episodes contain informative recaps of the appropriate Home Improvement episode. The hosts have great chemistry, are quick-witted, funny, and knowledgeable about the show. They have a fun way of bringing this old sitcom to life and making it relevant for today. As a listener who used to watch and love Home Improvement I enjoy being transported back to a younger age when Tim, Jill, Brad, Randy, Mark, Wilson, and Al graced television sets. The podcast hits the perfect balance between analysis and entertainment. The grunt count is a cool running gag. Give this podcast a try. You will not regret it.
