Sruly Bortnstein, the magid shiur of the Lakewood daf, has these two qualities to a degree that I have never experienced before in a daf yomi shiur. It would be wonderful to one day meet him. He does not teach the daf, rather he lives it, bringing it alive with background information and insights which sometimes I share with my wife. I think even somebody who has the time and ability to learn the daf inside for himself will gain greatly from the shiur. Sruly Bornstein is the gold standard to which all magidai shiurim should aspire.

Definitely the worlds greatest Daf Yomi Shiur*. Although The Lakewood Daf Yomi isn’t the only reason why I’m up to date with the Daf, Sruli and the Lakewood Chaburah is the reason why I look foward to listening to the Daf. I have attempted to keep up within the Daf many times and failed. As a matter fact I was so inspired to do the Daf after the Siyum Hashas but sadly failed. Close to a month in to this cycle some how (miracle sent by Hashem) I came across the Lakewood Daf Yomi and the mouth watering Raid bytes. Shortly after I was inspired and caught up with the Daf. I can go on and on but am the to keep my review short............ *In my opinion

I have listened to quite a few Daf Yomi shiurim and podcasts, and R’ Sruly’s Daf Yomi is truly one of a kind!! He masterfully and eloquently gives over #TheDaf with a unique level of clarity so that anyone from virtually any background can understand it. For those of us who went to yeshiva, it is the perfect combination of Daf Yomi and lomdis, bringing back the wonderful memories of our time spent in Yeshiva! He leaves the “Reid” for the end of the shiur (typically last 20 minutes or so) which is very helpful for specially if you’re on a tighter schedule. His “Reid” or insights are truly spectacular and show the depth and breadth of his knowledge, and they are “geshmak” and exciting, and easily explained and shared with family and friends. He is very committed to the shiur, ensuring it is available in a timely fashion, even ahead of a 3 day yuntif or however busy he is, and teaches and leads by example, creating a mechayev for those of us who listen to be equally committed. To paraphrase the Gemara, if not for R’ Sruly “kamma Yosef ikka bashuka”!

Excellent Daf Yomi Shiur, I highly recommend it!

Surly has the ability to deliver the most complex sugya, in a seamlessly manner. He is great at spanning the gamut, from Brisk to Breslov and anything in between. I love his P’SHAT intertwined with Lomdos P’shat It’s energetic, vibrant and GESHMAK. I wake up in the morning awaiting for the download. I can listen to it a few times. Predominantly the shiur is ENGLISH very eloquently delivered, with some Yiddish & Yeshivish colloquial expressions. #Reid #Dafbysruly

Best all-around Daf shiur there is. Clear shakla v’tarya, and Reid for those who like that. Highly recommend.
