Laurel and Hardy Podcast is brilliant thank you for reminding me of my love for the boys

This podcast is nothing short of brilliant! Every episode is overflowing with great information & good natured fun. Stan & Ollie would be so proud of what Patrick & his guests provide in every episode. In addition to the podcast I strongly recommend subscribing to the L&H magazine which is a thing of beauty. Wonderful writing is surrounded by beautiful graphic design & marvelous photography of “the boys.” I’ll be guying Patrick’s book on the Silent Films once it is available. It too looks to be beautifully designed & is first class all the way! THANK YOU PATRICK! As a 65 year-old lifelong fan of Stan & Ollie, I can’t than you enough!!

Outstanding podcast with outstanding guests! If you’re a fan of Laurel and Hardy there’s nothing better, believe me.

This is an outstanding podcast!! Having been a Laurel and Hardy fan for 6 decades, I’ve seen the films, read the books, listened to the Beau Hunks and all those Shield/Hatley pieces…but what Patrick has done is to pull all these pieces together and created an even greater community of fans. By thoughtfully combining the blog, music, clips of The Boys and most importantly, the guest experts, Patrick has brought a strong voice to the silent era. I am 17 episodes in and I’m so grateful to hear the voices of all of the experts who have published (or performed) so much of what I have enjoyed for decades. Everyone sharing their personal stories and insights about why they love The Boys cannot do anything but warm the listener’s heart. Patrick is a natural as the interviewer; informed and friendly…I can actually feel his smile as he connects with the guests. I’m looking forward to getting current, but, by then I’m going to want new episodes frequently…another fine mess, I guess! Thanks for the fun (and education).

You may not be aware of it, but The Laurel & Hardy Blogcast was the reason podcasting was invented. All other podcasts, especially those true crime ones, may be discarded and ignored. This is the real deal. Most of the episodes are devoted to a single L&H film (there are special exceptions), in which host Patrick Vasey reads his blog post on that film (which saves you the hard work of reading) and then follows a conversation or two by such L&H experts as Randy Skretvedt, Glenn Mitchell, and Richard Bann. The treatment is affectionate, exhaustive, but fair and measured -- some of the films come in for some sharp criticism. As producer, Vasey peppers the show with bumpers and inserts taken from L&H soundtracks, as well as archival interviews with Stan Laurel and many of his associates. It is indispensable. I started by bingeing the first 25 episodes in a month, and I did not regret that at all! It's going to be hard to wait a month for each new one from now on. If you like L&H, you must listen, and if you don't like L&H, SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP. Rating: 7-3/8 stars!!!! (That's my hat size.)

As a lifelong L&H fan I was overjoyed to recently discover this podcast. Always fascinating information and interviews makes for addictive listening and consistently mind-blowing production information behind our favorite comedies. Keep up the great work!

I have a long felt that classic comedy and Laurel and Hardy in particular have been under represented in podcasts.The Laurel and Hardy blogcast rectifies that problem. A cynic may say who would want to listen to a 2 1/2 hour podcast about a 20 minute short film.The answer is me. Keep up the good work.I am prepared to go down the rabbit hole.

Absolutely first rate, my favorite podcast!

I've only recently discovered the L&H blogcast and it's quickly become my all-time favorite, From the in-depth reviews of the pictures (in chronological order) to the insightful interviews of L&H experts and fans, this blogcast is a "must subscribe" for any fans of The Boys or classic comedy enthusiasts. It's as though this blogcast were made especially for me, and I couldn't love it more! Cheers!

I learned of this podcast (or blogcast, as it’s referred to) by none other than Randy Skretvedt, who is one of, if not the most, leading historians, experts and researchers of Laurel and Hardy. And I’m so glad I did! The creator, producer and host is Patrick Vasey. Mr. Vasey has set up an ambitious goal for himself. Each episode focuses on a Laurel and Hardy film. He’s working his way chronologically, beginning with ‘The Lucky Dog’ (1921) and moving forward. He’s had some ‘bonus blogcasts’ focusing on related subjects. Since Laurel and Hardy made over 100 films he’ll be doing this for a long time. Each episode features an interview with a Laurel and Hardy expert and the conversation is positively fascinating! So far, most of programs run well over an hour and that’s fine with me. If one has a copy of the film under discussion it would be a fun idea to watch it in tandem with the episode. This podcast is a godsend for lifelong Laurel and Hardy fans such as myself and I believe it will be essential for newer fans who want to learn more about this great comedy team. These are good times for Laurel and Hardy. Their films are finally undergoing much needed restoration and are more readily available through home video platforms. Collectors are on the lookout for lost prints and there are many fine books available including the aforementioned Mr. Skretvedt’s book, Laurel and Hardy: The Magic Behind the Movies. This podcast has the potential to be an important clearinghouse for future trends and developments. As such, it comes highly recommended.

This is an excellent podcast for all who enjoy classic comedy. Not only is there a great deal of information about Laurel and Hardy and their work, but also about their co-stars. And it is all presented with the utmost of admiration and respect for the great duo and their collaborators.

I am 43, been a fan of this team since I was a single-digit age. I absolutely KNOW that Stan Laurel is a genius and so important for all of our laughing fodder that we enjoy today. He was the Foundation builder. Oliver Hardy was also, a comic and performing genius. This podcast is one of the great in-depth looks at these two gentleman‘s professional lives and I applaud him for the guests that he has on and also for the amount of time and passion used propelling this series forward. If you are even a casual fan or have any interest in these two comic legends, I seriously beg you to tune in. Listening to this you can learn a lot about the craft. It’s also outstanding how young the creator of this podcast is. We are both on team youngster, that in itself is pretty remarkable. Spread the word that this podcast exists and let’s all enjoy the ride. This is one of the greatest detailed histories of Laurel and Hardy in the modern era and the discussions on this podcast are entertaining. Masterfully edited, the soundbites chosen for the perfect moment are a nice touch. Bravo and many more episodes to come and we haven’t even gotten to the “talkies” yet!Pay this podcast forward.

I’ve been a fan of Laurel and Hardy since the late 60s, and I was so happy to find this blogcast, and of course the blog of which I am a faithful reader. Patrick does a marvelous job as an interviewer, and he and his guests present a wealth of information about the boys. I especially like the format, where each episode is devoted to one or two of the films. I realize it will take a long time to get through them all, but this allows me to savor each film as it is discussed, and to look forward to hearing what Patrick and his guests think about my favorite L&H films.

I just discovered this wonderful podcast (or “blogcast”) and anyone who has the slightest passing interest in the Boys will just love this. The authors interviewed are just a wealth of information, as is the host. Great great show!!

Patrick does a swell job, combining humor with scholarly but not too heavy discussions of The Boys. Pop some corn, sit back and enjoy more than an hour episode of "you, you Sons of the Desert."

As a long time admirer of Stan and Ollie ( 49 ur old Hispanic in Miami ) I am so happy with this podcast! There was another good one called Mixed Nuts and Hard Boiled Eggs that is no more so this was an awesome surprise ! Love all the detailed talk and the obvious love that you have for the boys! Please keep this invaluable podcast going !! L & H are a national treasure and you are an international treasure for doing this !! 🙏🙏❤️

Thank you SOOOO MUCH for this podcast. I rarely if ever listen to more than one episode of anything but this one I am addicted to and it just began. I can't wait for more and I am so grateful there are people like you out there keeping Laurel and Hardy's legacy alive. :)

Patrick Vasey has singlehandedly brought about the best Laurel and Hardy podcast to date. A supplement to his wonderful blog that chronologizes each film in detail, this podcast sets out to do that and much more via interviews with scholars and others important to the L&H scene. Very charmingly presented with L&H audio cues interspersed throughout — you will be as informed as you will be entertained. And if you must make a noise, make it quietly!

There have been several attempts at a Laurel & Hardy podcast that either suddenly stop or just disappear. Two episodes in and I’m already hooked and hoping it sticks around. It’s reminiscent of The Marx Brothers Council podcast with interviews with authors/experts in hand to give the backstory on “the boys”.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! One of the best podcasts I have listened to. Can't wait for more now! Such unexplored depth into L&H for the true fan. Enjoyed it so much!
