Chasing Ghosts: An Irregular Warfare Podcast

An unauthorized podcast series peeking behind the curtain at the vast machinery and briar patch politics of fighting terrorism and insurgency and everything in between. I'm a "COINtra" and not a "COINdinista", the latter are the vast army of apparatchiks and apologists who fire the engines of Irregular Warfare (IW) planet-wide. We're the skeptics and doubters of all things IW and special operations. And we are a tiny sliver of the IW community. I have noticed a jarring gap in this part of the discussion and intend on filling the breach.

I have been following the author since his appearances on the Freedom Feens podcast and am in awe of the depth of his knowledge and ability to share it in an understandable way.

    A must listen!!!
Bill does a fantastic job breaking down military history and applying what we’ve learned to the modern era. The world is becoming more dangerous and we have a responsibility to ourselves and our loved ones to be our own First Responders. Chasing Ghosts is a must listen!

    Well done
This podcast is well narrated and the narrator is objective and well informed. As an amateur military historian and a student of guerrilla warfare myself, I can confidently say that this is one of the best podcasts on the aforementioned subjects.

    Worthwhile
I feel like my iq goes up by 20 points after listening. It’s easy to listen to feeling like talking to someone at a party, but very deep topics.

    Your Brain Will Thank You!
Bill provides a sober, measured and balanced approach to the many subjects he covers. His opinions and commentary are obviously well researched, and when noted, his personal experience within a particular subject can only be appreciated. Most of us don’t have this experience, but can relate through our own experience and study. Let’s take some time with Bill and chase some ghosts!

    Great podcast!
Love this podcast! I’ve listened to Mr. Buppert for years now as a guest on other people’s podcasts and always enjoy the material. So, I was happy when I discovered he was doing his own. I’m not a military guy so most of the information he puts out is new to me which makes it very enjoyable; I always learn something new and in a way that I can comprehend. The guy is an excellent historian, in my opinion, and an excellent communicator as well. That’s a great combination for a teacher and a podcaster!

    Engaging podcast
I enjoy listening to this podcast. Some things I don’t track with but for the most part I agree with. I also am a past member of the 12th group.

    You had me until…
Your recommendation of Col. McGregor lost me. That man is an inveterate Russian propagandist. I have listened to the Colonel on multiple occasions and have never heard him say anything remotely critical of the Russians. Best wishes.

This ex-Green Beret gives Bill 5 stars!
When I told my father that I was inspired by T.E. Lawrence to join Army Special Forces, he looked at me and told me that I had been watching too many Hollywood movies. Little did my father know that I had already read “Seven Pillars of Wisdom”. Many years later I had some limited correspondence with Bill and it was clear that we shared the same Libertarian ideology. I enjoyed reading his book, “ZeroGov” and was pleasantly surprised this year to discover his podcast. I look forward to every episode!

Great podcast on a fascinating subject area

    Very intelligent break down.
Former Marine Raider here, and this is one of the most intelligent breakdowns of Irregular Warfare I’ve listened to or have read. You asked for feed back and interest in this podcast - please keep them coming. I’d love to see where this goes.
